Victory surprised the world a few months ago when they announced that they would be running in the 2015 Isle of Man TT. After purchasing EV bike maker Brammo, Victory was gifted a top notch Electric Racing Program, luckily they put it to work.
With two (three by the end of it) of the top riders on the rock signed up to wring the necks of the e-prototypes the future looks bright.
The bike Victory brought over is based on the Brammo Empulse RR with a reworkedmotor, new battery and aero tweaks.
The Magnet motor makes use of new windings which actually reduced horsepower by 23 to 150, while still kicking out 162 lb-ft of torque. The new battery added 20% capacity. Aero wise they added fairing extenders to the front of the bike which helps widen its frontal area and keep the air flowing around the riders and not into them.
While Victory was FAST during the week they unfortunately weren't fast enough to beat out Hondas Team Mugen who took 1-2 followed by Victory in 3-4. The two Victories finished about a minute off the pace of the Mugens. John McGuiness took the win in 18:58 at 119 mph average over the lap, while Lee Johnston on the Victory finished in 20:16 averaging 11 mph.
Really Can't wait until next year...
