BTW anyone know what the plastic cover is just under the left side swinging arm, I haven't seen it on any of the review vids/pics. I asked the saleman and he didn't seem to know. Hope the image file attaches.
That plastic cover is for the fuel evaporative emissions crap that they have to sell California motorcycles with.
I'm really tempted to just go and do the trade on the new Gunner he has on the showroom floor, but I'm still not sure about the transmission. I've now checked out a lot of on-line reviews and still can't get my head around it... many of the review videos seem to be on the same demo bike with different press writers and most mention the transmission being clunky/notchy, one video seems to say that the particular bike had a defective gearbox,
To me the transmission seems fine. It's a little rough (slight jerk) shifting from neutral into first and the transition from first to second gear can be a little rough if you don't hit it in the right RPM range. I did a little experimenting with it yesterday. This all depends on how you accelerate. This bike DOES NOT like when you shift without the clutch and the owners manual tells you not to. I have been riding sports bikes for a long time and am accustomed to the close gear ratio of their gearboxes. Also, I seem to keep catching neutral on the downshift to first.
